Test Management
Software testing is one of the cornerstones to manage risks within your software development life cycle. Managing the test process is also about managing these risks. It's about finding the right equilibrium between the testing activities, the budget, risk coverage and quality.
During this one-day training we will cover all aspects of managing the test process in a pragmatic way, so trainees can immediately apply this training in daily practice. They will learn about the different test approaches, the planning phase with different ways to estimate the effort, how to measure progress and quality and how to create useful reports. At the end of the day the future test coordinators or test managers will have a clear insight on every aspect of the test managing process.
Intended audience
Anyone involved in the coordination or management of testing activities with a basic knowledge of software testing.
Duration
1 day; English/Dutch/French.
Content
- Different test models - we will discuss the most successful models with their strengths and weaknesses and learn when to use them.
- Test management: where do we start? - we will cover the
different aspects of the test process you will need to
address at the start of a project.
- What should be tested?
- Who should test?
- When should we test?
- How should we test?
- Test planning and test estimation - we will learn about every element of a test plan and about the ways to estimate the needed test effort and how to manage the effort during the project.
- Controlling and monitoring the test process - measurement is the key of monitoring the test process. Course participants will learn what should be measured and how to use these measurements to manage the test process.
- Risk assessment - testing is about mitigation of the risk. We will go into detail of what risk means for testing, and where risk can occur.
- Planning and tracking test development and test execution - trainees will learn how to measure and report on progress in the different testing phases.
- Defect management - we will cover the defect workflow and learn to evaluate the defect statuses and their impact on the test process.
- Reporting - we will learn how to use the test reports, what a good test report should consist of and when to create these reports.
- Multiple exercises - the training will be a mix of theory and practice. The exercises will transform the course participants in effective test managers and increase their added value in the quality process.
