- The need for requirements engineering - Many software development projects fail due to the absence of decent Business or Technical Requirements. In this chapter we will show you why these requirements are so important.
- Requirements development - What are the different sources and types of requirements? We will show you what turns a requirement into an excellent requirement and we will discuss the specifications of requirements. For this you will need to use a number of techniques, which we will explain to you in detail. Last but not least, the validation of requirements will be handled.
- Skills of a requirements engineer - As a requirements engineer you sometimes have to act as a diplomat, an audit inspector, a curious person, etc. We will have a look at the specific skills you need as a requirements engineer and we will provide you with some guidelines and tips & tricks on this topic.
- Requirements management - Gathering requirements is one thing, but if you don't manage them and if you don't have a version management system in place, how can you make sure your developers, testers, analysts, ... are still working on the same version of a requirement? We will show you how you can manage changes to requirements and will give you an overview of the tools that can be used to do so.
