ISTQB® - ISEB® Certified Software Tester Foundation Level

Testing has become an integral part of software development. Most people involved in software projects are called upon to perform some verification and/or validation tasks during or after development, whether they are developers, analysts, project managers or business people. With such a diverse background, it is easy to see the necessity for an international standard as a way to make sure everyone is speaking the same language.

This full 3-day course gives you an understanding of the fundamental testing process and the techniques used during this process. It also ensures that participants get an understanding of the test jargon and acquire a common internationally accepted vocabulary. During this course participants are provided with an extensive exercise bundle that consists of in-depth test technique exercises and solutions.

Furthermore, this course prepares the participant for the ISTQB® - ISEB® Certified Test Professional Foundation Level exam. A mock exam and study material are provided to prepare you for this computer-based exam at a certified examination center of your choice. You will also be able to schedule this at your personal convenience. Information about how to register is included in the training material.

Content

• Fundamentals of testing: we explain what testing means, how to test with the right attitude, the seven basic test principles, the fundamental test process and we briefly touch on the code of ethics for a tester.
• Testing throughout the software lifecycle: we explain the role of testing in the different software development lifecycles as well as in the maintenance phase and indicate how test activities can be matched to the corresponding development tasks.
• Static testing: we explain how static testing can be applied in a project to ensure early bug detection and discuss how this can be done using reviews and tools.
• Test design techniques: we provide you with a set of directly applicable white- and black-box techniques that can be used in the different phases of a test project.
• Test management: we introduce you to a way of organizing a test team, the planning of the tests, monitoring and controlling of the test development and execution phase and explain how to finalize testing at the end of a project. The approach proposed is based on project and product risks to determine test effort.
• Tool support for testing: we present an overview of test tool categories and teach you how to use these tools effectively. We also talk about how to introduce them into an organization.
• Extensive exercises and mock exam: throughout the course, lots of exercises, study material and a mock exam will prepare you for the certification exam.
