Coralius presents "Testing: the final frontier" at KVIV on 1st of March 2011

LEUVEN, 21 February 2011 - Maarten Van Eyken, consultant at Coralius will give the next evening presentation for the software testing group of the KVIV.

Testing: the final frontier

During the currently challenging economic times, there is an increase in the desire for quality assurance professionals to understand better where the software testing industry as a whole is heading. There is no doubt that in the coming years, test & quality professionals and development organizations will be under increasing pressure to test faster and better. It will require software leaders to change the way they think about the quality professionalsā role, test technologies and processes.

In the beginning there were no testers! Did we invent our own profession? Once the companies found out that people arenāt good in finding issues in their own creations, they started working with independent testing teams. Do we have to foster a new breed of developers, start gene engineering or just conquer the world in its whole?

What we are sure of is that software testing in the future will look very different as it does today. I know, again someone talking about the future but my reasoning is straightforward: Software testing largely stinks today. It comes into a project too late, contributes too little, and costs too much! If we care about the quality of our products and the health of our bottom lines, we need to re-think our approach to testing and our ultimate goal: "quality".

There is a growing understanding that quality will become everybody's responsibility in the future, and more and more organizations will start to look at quality more holistically. However, we are just seeing the very beginning of this.
